הספד למרדכי – כתב יחיאל

לאחי בכורי מרדכי, אתה התברכת בכל המעלות האציליות שישנם, ובהשקפותיך היית איש מתון ושקול הרואה רק את הטוב והיפה באנשים, והיום נהפכת למלאך בשמים ואתה נמצא עם המלאכים. מרדכי אחי יקיר שלי, תשמור ותשגיח עלינו מלמעלה.

עלית לארץ בגיל 6 ונכנסת ללמוד בבית ספר תחכמוני ולאחר סיום הלימודים התחלת לעבוד במפעל המרצפות של התעשיינים העדנים ברחוב העלייה בתל–אביב והמשכורת שלך מיד לאמא עבור התשלום למכולת של הדוד יוסף דוד.

הייתה לי הזכות לשהות במחיצתך כל השנים. כל השנים הייתה לי אח בוגר וכמו אבא. כל שיחה אתך גרמה לי להתעלות הנפש של איש משפחה למופת. אתה שימשת לי כמודל איך שצריך להתנהג וכמו שההורים שימשו לך כדוגמא של נתינה והשקעה של ערכים תרבותיים.

ברצוני לספר על הביקןרים שלך אצלי בבית החולום מאיר בכפר סבא, שכבתי שם לצורך ניתוח 21 יום, ואתה ביקרת אותי 21 פעם, דהיינו מדי יום, כולל ימי ששי ומוצאי שבת והגעת אלי בתחבורה ציבורית וכל זה קרה לפני 30 שנה.

היה לנו קשר הדוק כל השנים. גם כשהיית בטיולים באנגליה, קנדה, ואמריקה, קבלתי ממך כמעט מדי יום גלויות עם תיאורים של כל המקומות שביקרת בהם, ידעת לכתוב ולתאר היטב בצורה מתומצתת ומרתקת וכמעט כל שורה נושא אחר, סך הכל 222 גלויות, וכל מי שרוצה להכיר אותך, יכול דרך הגלויות האלה לדעת את כשרון הכתיבה שלך שהיה מלא רגש. ועם הסיורים שלך באנגליה למדת להכיר את האדיבות שלהם והתפעלת מהנימוסים של התושבים, בקרת גם בהרבה מוזיאונים, פארקים וגם בבתי הפרלמנט.

וגם בזמן שחלית והיית מרותק למיטה, כתבת יומן יומי על כל מיני נושאים בעניני דיומה. וגם זאת יש להזכיר שילדיך טיפלו בך יומם ולילה, פשוטו כמשמעו, ולא חסכו ממך דבר כדי להקל עליך להתמודד עם המחלות שלך, ובעיקר יש לציין את הטיפול הצמוד בבית, של בן–חייל, תהילה, אגדה, ויוסי, שהיו תמיד זמינים לידך.

אתה השקעת בילדיך את כל מה שהיה לך לתת, הרבה אהבה וחינוך טוב, והם החזירו לך לעת זיקנתך, וקיבלת מהם כל דבר הקשור במחלתך על ידי בקור רופאים ואחיות וכולי.

בזמן שעבדת בחלוקת עתון “הארץ‘ הבאת הבייתה נוסף לעיתון “הארץ” את כל העיתונים שהופיעו באותה תקופה, כגון עתון “הצופה” “המשקיף” וגם חוברות של עיתון “לאישה” וגם עיתון “העולם הזה” בעריכתו של אורי קיסרי. ופה המקום לציין שבעיתון “הצופה” התפרסם

היומן של ד“ר עזריאל קרליבך על מלחמת העולם השנייה וכל מהלכי המאורעות שהתרחשו באותה תקופה.

הבית היה מלא עיתונים ומרדכי רצה שנקרא ושנדע מה קורה בעולם ואנחנו קראנו בשקיקה את המאמרים והיינו מעודכנים בכל מה שקרה במדינה.

אחי היקר, אנחנו נזכור לך את כל מה שעשית למעננו ועל החינוך הטוב שנתת לנו והכל לפי בית הילל.

מרדכי, אנחנו אהבנו אותך והתגאנו בך.

תנוח בשלום על משכבך ונעשה הכל כדי ללכת בדרכיך.

To my dear eldest brother Mordechai. You have been blessed with the highest qualities which exist. With your outlook of life and world matters you stood out as the best there is. Your outlook of life was balanced and fair-minded, you saw only the good in people. Today you are in heaven as an Angel among the rest of the Angeles in the sky. Please Mordechai, my dear brother, protect and look after us from heaven.

You came to Israel as a 6 years old and you started at the local junior school and when you finished school you started work and you gave your wages to mum to help with the expenses of the house, in particular to pay for the groceries in our uncle Joseph shop.

I had the privilege to be near you, for many years, you have been as a father figure to me. I enjoyed very much my conversations with you which gave me great elation and satisfaction and I learned a lot from you and saw you as a perfect example as what kind of a person I want to be. Also I like to mention that we learned from our parents the values of giving and the culture of studies.

I like to mention as well that we had a lot of newspapers in the house to read, because you wanted us to know what is happening in the world, also you made sure that we have a lot of books to read.

You have been a great thinker and you thought about everything

I like to mention also that when I was ill, you came from far away and visited me almost every day.

we always wrote to each other frequently specially when you went traveling round the world, you did not forget me. You sent many letters and postcards from every corner of the world. Also from England,Canada and America. I received from you postcards almost every day and you gave good description about each place. You sent me 222 postcards in total and anybody who want to know what a wonderful person you are, all he has to do is read those postcards. You have a very good talent in writing and everybody enjoy reading your cards. And from reading your cards people get to know what kind of a person you are and you are one of a kind, really, you are one of a million. God does not make great people like you any more. You and your wonderful wife Tzipora belong to a generation of the past which we read about them only in the fairy stories.

You also enjoyed your stay in England, you were very impressed from the people in England, how polite they are, and you were very impressed from their manners. You visited also a lot of museums and the Houses of Parliaments.

Also when you were ill and has to stay in bed, you wrote a diary every day about all kind of subjects. I like to mention that your children looked after you when you were ill.

Your children looked after you day and night when you were ill and they done their best to make it easy for you. Also I like to mention the care that your children Ben-Hail, Tehila, Agada and Yossi gave you at home. They were always ready to take care of you at any time day or night.

I like to mention as well that you brought every day many newspapers to make sure that we shall know about all what happening in the world.

We shall always remember all what you done for us, you gave us good upbringing as our forefathers wanted.

Mordechai, we love you and we are proud of you, have a rest in peace in Paradise in Heaven and we shall continue in the ways you showed us. God gave and God took.

Give glory to God for ever and ever. Amen.
